DreamOval foundation also partakes and sponsors other programs that fulfill the core mandate of bridging knowledge gap
We do not compromise on propagating our core values which are knowledge creation, sharing and utilization.Over the years the Foundation has sponsored and collaborated with initiatives such as INTED Fellows Program, Tech need girls, Ashesi Code Fair and currently T-Hacks. We continuously find the need to support initiatives geared towards education and technology advancement because a lot remains to be desired in these areas
What We Have Done
INTED Fellows Programme
The DreamOval Foundation was present at the INTED Africa Fellows Programme to train 100 teachers in basic ICT skills on the day dedicated to Technology and Education. Our focus was to equip the teachers with ICT skills they could use to enhance the teaching experience for themselves and their students as part of their own professional development.
The INTED Fellows programme was designed by a team led by INTED and the Center to Support Excellence in Teaching (CSET) at the Stanford Graduate School of Education and customized to the needs of schools in Ghana, in partnership with various stakeholders of education, most notably the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS).
Tech Needs Girls
As part of the DreamOval Foundation’s goal to support knowledge sharing initiatives, we were proud to come on board to sponsor ‘Tech Needs Girls’ a programme coordinated by Soronko Solutions. The Tech Needs Girls Interactive Workshop is a hands on workshop that takes girls from Senior Secondary Schools and offers them the opportunity to be mentored by female computer scientists on how to code and create technology. The girls are also empowered to think more entrepreneurial, pursue their passions and careers in science and technology.
Ashesi University College Code Fair
We currently sponsor Ashesi Code fair, an Ashesi Student Council initiative which brings together students from Tertiary Institutions in Accra to participate in an App Exhibition and Code Challenge. Participants are presented with a challenge fashioned by some staff from DreamOval Ltd and iSpace. This event has had other sponsors like Google GH.
For the year 2016, we are focused on establishing international standard hackathons that will produce sustainable tech solutions to all areas in our society. We are partnering with Private Universities Students Association Ghana(PUSAG) for T-Hacks. A 36hr Hackathon for tertiary students from all over Ghana which seeks to create opportunity for young minds to build sustainable innovations that can solve nation wide problems. The theme for T-Hacks 2016 is Hi-Tech Agric.
