Women Educators in Internet and Technology

 The Women Educators in Internet and Technology (WEITech) program, spearheaded by the DreamOval Foundation and in partnership with The Strengthening Communities/Improving Lives and Livelihoods (SCILLS) grant program of The Internet Society Foundation, seeks to address and bridge the digital skills gap among female teachers in the Greater Accra Region. This innovative two-year program will empower 150 female educators in Ghana with essential digital literary and entrepreneurial skills.  to boost their employability and career growth.  WEITech will enhance employability, foster career growth, and contribute to a more inclusive digital landscape.

What WEITech Offers

Over an eight-month period for each cohort, participants will engage in:  

  • Digital Literacy Training: Learning essential tools and platforms for modern education.  
  • Instructional Technology Skills: Mastering innovative teaching methods.  
  • Entrepreneurial Opportunities: Developing and marketing online courses and other educational products.  

The program includes virtual and in-person sessions, an Ed-Tech partnership phase, and a final showcase event where participants present their work to key stakeholders.

Program Objectives

WEITech is designed to address key challenges such as underemployment among female educators and limited access to professional development. The program prepares participants to embrace the demands of technology-enhanced education and explore entrepreneurial opportunities in online education.  

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:  

  • Be female educators aged 18-35, trained, licensed, and currently unemployed.  
  • Reside in the Greater Accra Region.  
  • Have an interest in digital education tools and entrepreneurship.
